On SCO Sidelines, S Jaishankar Discusses India-China Border Stand-Off With Chinese FM Qin

Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met on the sidelines of the SCO Foreign Ministers meeting in Goa. Qin reiterated that the situation at the India-China border is generally stable and both sides should consolidate present achievements while pushing for further cooling and easing of the conditions for sustainable peace and tranquillity. Jaishankar stated that the focus remained on resolving outstanding issues and ensuring peace and tranquillity in the border areas. The two sides discussed issues related to the SCO, G20 and BRICS. Qin maintained that China and India are both in a critical period of modernisation, and that the two countries should approach bilateral relations from a strategic and long-term perspective, deepen coordination and cooperation on international and regional issues, and bring China-India relations back on track of sound and stable development.
