Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport in Agartala has topped the list of airports in the Northeast region in the 2025 Customer Satisfaction Survey conducted by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). With a high score of 4.77 out of 5, the airport also ranks 15th among 62 airports across India.
The update came during the Airport Advisory Committee (AAC) meeting held on Saturday, chaired by West Tripura MP Biplab Kumar Deb. The meeting brought together key administrative officials, industry representatives, and aviation stakeholders to review current operations and discuss future enhancements.
MBB Airport Director K.C. Meena highlighted the growing passenger satisfaction levels, attributing the performance to coordinated efforts by airport staff, airlines, and ground teams.
Notable attendees included West Tripura DM Dr. Vishal Kumar, Municipal Commissioner D.K. Chama, SP Dr. Kiran Kumar, and former MLA Krishna Dhan Das. Tourism and travel sector stakeholders like Ratan Debnath (Longtharai Industries), Sanjib Acharjee (Niljyoti Travels), and Prikshit Dey (Hindustan Tour and Travel) were also present, along with CISF, airline, and AAI representatives.
Key announcements from the meeting included the upcoming operationalisation of the Inline Baggage Handling System (ILHBS) by March 2025, aimed at streamlining baggage screening and improving passenger experience. Additionally, the airport will soon introduce a Child Care Room in collaboration with Himalaya to support mothers traveling with infants.
The AAC also reviewed the progress of the Kailashahar Airport project in Unakoti district, which is expected to improve regional air connectivity and support economic development in North Tripura.
Leaders at the meeting praised the continued improvement of MBB Airport’s infrastructure and services, urging consistent collaboration across departments to maintain Tripura’s upward trajectory in the aviation sector.
