The death toll in a Kenyan cult tragedy has risen to 103, as followers of the Good News International Church believed that they would ascend to heaven if they starved themselves. Interior Minister Kithure Kindiki confirmed the rising death toll, which has been slowly increasing as authorities carry out exhumations of mass graves in the Shakahola forest, where the cult was based.

The graves, located in an 800-acre area of the forest, contained mostly shallow graves of the deceased. A small number of individuals were found alive, but they were severely emaciated and later died. The tragic incident has left many shocked and saddened, as the followers of the cult believed that their actions would lead to eternal life.

The Good News International Church had been operating in Kenya for some time, and its teachings had reportedly been causing concern among locals for years. The cult’s leaders are now being investigated by authorities, and efforts are being made to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

This tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of extremist beliefs and the importance of identifying and addressing potentially harmful religious movements. It also highlights the need for increased education and awareness surrounding the dangers of cults and the importance of seeking help if someone is believed to be involved in a potentially dangerous group.
