A shocking incident occurred in Delhi’s Badarpur on April 27, when a 12-year-old boy was bludgeoned to death by his classmates after he caught them smoking. The deceased was a Class 8 student at MCD school, Tajpur Pahari, New Delhi. His body was found dumped in a drain near a government school in Badarpur. The police were informed about the incident by a PCR call at 8.20 pm. The police soon reached the spot and found the boy’s body in a drain with multiple head injuries, apparently caused by a blunt object.
The police have arrested two students in connection with the incident. On analysing the CCTV footage of the nearby areas, the police were able to apprehend the two boys. During the investigation, it was revealed that the deceased child had seen the two boys smoking cigarettes on the school premises and had threatened to reveal this to the school officials.
The accused lured the 12-year-old to an isolated spot and assaulted him, leading to serious head injuries that proved fatal. A schoolbag containing textbooks and other study material was found at the spot, along with four-five blood-stained stones and a blood-stained cotton towel. The presence of the blood-stained stones nearby indicated that the stones were possibly used in the commission of the crime.
The deceased boy’s family had reported him missing when he did not return home after classes were over. The family launched a search for him, but failing to find him, they informed the police. Sometime later, the body of the young boy was found by the police, and his identity was confirmed by his family.
The Delhi Police have registered a case of murder and started investigating the matter to identify the assailants. The body has been shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) mortuary for post-mortem.
This incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of children in schools. It highlights the need for schools to have proper measures in place to ensure the safety and security of their students. It is also a reminder that smoking is not only hazardous to health but can lead to grave consequences. Parents and teachers must educate children about the dangers of smoking and its ill-effects, and also about the importance of standing up against wrongdoings without compromising their safety.
In conclusion, this unfortunate incident is a wake-up call for all of us to ensure the safety and well-being of our children. It is imperative that we create a safe environment for them to grow and learn, and prevent such tragedies from happening in the future.
