Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale has thrown his hat into the ring for the post of chief minister in Maharashtra. In a press conference held in Maharashtra’s Sangli, Athawale stated that he is willing to become the next chief minister of Maharashtra and even offered NCP chief Sharad Pawar to join the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
Athawale acknowledged that many politicians are vying for the chief ministerial post in the state, but said that it is only possible if one has a majority. He also praised current Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for his efficiency and hard work, stating that the government is currently stable.
In addition, Athawale suggested that experienced politicians like Sharad Pawar should consider joining the NDA, citing examples of George Fernandes and Nitish Kumar. This offer comes as Pawar’s nephew and NCP leader Ajit Pawar expressed his own aspirations to become the chief minister of Maharashtra last week.
The upcoming elections in Maharashtra have led to a flurry of activity as politicians from various parties jockey for positions and make their ambitions known. It remains to be seen who will ultimately emerge as the next chief minister of the state.
