Air India has warned its pilots to renew their licenses and Airport Entry Passes (AEP) on time or face disciplinary action and financial penalties. The airline has sent an email to its pilots, saying that any delays in the renewal process could affect the airline’s safety standards and the availability of the crew for duty. The email said that some pilots have failed to provide the necessary documentation or follow the procedures required for the renewal of licenses, despite repeated reminders. The airline has asked its pilots to take advantage of the training department’s assistance with their documentation and initiate the renewal process at least 45 days before the expiry of their licenses. “If submission of documentation is not initiated at least 45 days before the expiry of the license, then the crew member will be issued a caution letter,” the email said. The directive has sparked debate in the aviation industry, with some applauding the airline’s safety-conscious approach while others questioning the harshness of the measures.
